Although it’s not been the year that we imagined, we are still celebrating Christmas in each of our schools in a very special way.

With lots going on, our school leaders have been busy in the community and in the school to make sure everyone feels loved and valued as we come to the end of our term and celebrate all that Christmas should be.

How are Comberbach celebrating?

Christmas at Comberbach has been wonderful for all involved.

Our children have enjoyed a (socially distanced) visit from Santa and one of his elves, who told our children that he is so proud of how they have all returned to school and is sure that every single child is on the ‘good list’! This was great news to hear!

We have worn our Christmas jumpers, eaten a delicious Christmas dinner prepared by our wonderful cook, Nicky, and had a Christmas party in our ‘bubbles’. It’s been so good to see each of the children return back to school happy, settled and enjoying the time with their friends.

In the final days we have created Christmas crafts to share with our families and we have had our annual Christmas service with Reverend Tim on Friday.

Within our teaching team, Mrs McKevitt, is moving on to new adventures after working with the school for 31 years! We all wish her the very best of luck for the new chapter in her life and know that the whole school community will miss her.

We are however, very much looking forward to the new year when we are welcoming 3 new members of staff to our team.

And Grange Community Nursery and Primary School have been celebrating safely in style too.

To begin the festive period, the Grange has supported our local hospice, St Luke’s, by completing a Rudolph Run. Each child, equipped with their red nose and antlers, has made their way through the school and on to the playground, where they ran, hopped, jumped and skipped to show their support for this incredible charity. Lots of our children raised funds for this worthy cause and very impressively, Joe Hawkins, aged 6, raised a huge £135!

Head of School, Sara Albiston, commented “We are just so proud of our supportive children and families. Even in such challenging times, Team Grange has pulled together to raise money for a fantastic charity in our local community.”

Offering further support to the local community, the children and families at the Grange made Christmas decorations to help get local care home, Overdene into the Christmas spirit. The children wanted to bring smiles to the residents’ faces after what has been a rather challenging year.

Under normal circumstances, the children in Winsford congregate together in December to form a Lantern Parade through the town. To continue our support for Winsford Town Council, Year Two created their own lanterns and baubles that have been displayed throughout the school community and within the Cine-Window in the town centre.

Along with Christmas jumper day and a delicious Christmas lunch, the festivities continued and in the past week we’ve used digital technologies and released a virtual Nativity and “Carols Around the Christmas Tree” which can be seen on the school’s Facebook page.

Team Grange have ensured that despite challenging circumstances, they have been able to provide a quality education, alongside Christmas celebrations and have left children and families feeling excited about the big day.

What festivities are happening at Barnton?

At Barnton, we have been able to provide food hampers and presents to families who are in need of support this year. We hope you enjoy them and know that we are thinking of you.

We have also celebrated with some of our traditional Christmas activities too, but this year in a different way.

Our children have enjoyed Christmas jumper day, Christmas lunches, class parties, taking part in our performances and carol services. We were also delighted that Santa seems to have had a crash course in digital technology and sent us a Christmas message via Zoom! Our traditional carols around the tree service has been released along with a Christmas Barnton Bedtime Story for Christmas Eve.

Our virtual Nativity ‘The One Which Covid Nearly Cancelled’ was filmed in our bubbles and released via our Facebook page and YouTube. It has so far had over 2500 views, so thank you to everyone that took part and to all of you that have had a chance to see it.

The Weaver Trust Kindness Campaign

As part of Weaver Trust, each of the schools launched the Christmas Kindness Campaign, which provided gifts for nominated members of the local community.

The “Kindness Campaign” has been overwhelmed with donations. This means that we have been able to provide presents and food hampers to over 200 families across our local community.

We have also taken nominations of children and adults in our community, who have shown kindness to others. It’s something we really value as a Trust and as things have been tough for many this year, it’s so good to show kindness in as many ways that we can. Once we receive all the nominations we are then planning to present them with a small gift to show how much their kindness is appreciated.

CEO, Annette Williams explained how we appreciate the kindness that is shown each and every day and is at the heart of all we do in Weaver Trust.

We would all like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas this year and very much look forward to seeing you in January.
